Fuze Nights: YWLC Ladies Night Edition
This October, we’ll be hosting a special edition of Fuze Nights in collaboration with the Young Women’s Leadership Connection, Singapore’s leading platform to cultivate the young female leaders of tomorrow.
We’ll be combining Fuze Night, the social for social impact, with YWLC’s Ladies Night, where inspiring women shares their stories on leadership. The result? An evening of connecting, learning and inspiration from the women leading social change in Singapore and beyond.
Our October speaker line-up includes:

LEARNING TALK: TOP LESSONS FROM HER JOURNEY IN SOCIAL INNOVATION
Melissa Kwee, CEO, National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre
Melissa Kwee shares her personal journey in social innovation, from Beautiful People, a movement that linked professional women with troubled teenage girls, to learnings from heading up the nation’s leading centre devoted to fostering a giving society in Singapore, as CEO of the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre in Singapore. It is a journey marked not only by successes but also failures, and some outrageous and courageous leaps of faith. Hear from one of the driving forces for social impact share her story.
BRINGING LOVE TO EVERY SINGLE SOUL
Francesca Wah, Founder, BLESS
Francesca shares the story of BLESS, a non-profit she founded on the belief that communities are their own strongest reserve to helping the less fortunate in Singapore. She and her team help communities to become less passive by co-creating solutions that leads to developing sustainable engagement. Currently, there are 5 programs that embody that ethos and touch thousands of lives.
Francesca will be talking on one of those programs: Bringing Learning to Every Shining Star, a unique door step reading program aimed at the 1% of children from less privileged backgrounds that don’t attend pre-school. By making social services more accessible through the community, it helps improve literacy, pre-school social skills and confidence.
SINGAPORE IS GREAT, BUT IT CAN BE AWESOME!
Christen Chen, Awesome Foundation
The Awesome Foundation was started by a group of individuals that believe that Singapore is great but can be awesome. They do this by funding innovative ideas that bring joy and assistance to other, especially to disadvantaged populations or that take on a crazy yet fun way of tackling an issue. Every month, the Foundation gives a $1,000 grant to any idea or project they believe is simply awesome.
Christen will be sharing the story of the Awesome Foundation and one or two of the awesome stories that they have helped to fund.
BUILDING A SOCIAL PANTRY: THE SOCIAL PANTRY STORY
Shantal Chen, Lead, The Social Pantry
Tired of seeing people with disabilities out of work, the Social Co and the Soup Restaurant decided to do something about it. By providing companies and households with a socially responsible alternative to sourcing supplies and provisions, they aim to fill Singapore’s pantries and at the same time providing people with disabilities with skills training to build their confidence and their capacity to work. Every order is prepared and packed by trained beneficiaries, and provides pantry supplies at competitive rates.

ABOUT YWLC LADIES NIGHT
YWLC Ladies Night aims to bring YWLC members and their friends together for a night of networking and sharing by outstanding female leaders. Held every quarter, the event aims to foster the connections between the leading women of today with the future female leaders of tomorrow.
The Young Women’s Leadership Connection aims to connect young women leaders and empower them with the aptitude and attitude to lead and serve in society. It aims to do this by providing the young women of today with mentoring, networking opportunities and opportunities to give back through community engagement.
